So. The first article printed on iPad is of course about iPad itself, its purchase, adventures when connecting it to 3G networks, jailbreak and general review. After my post about the intention to buy this device, several people responded. Some offered a good price of 1100, but it turned out that this was only wholesale.
A colleague from America offered to bring the iPad at cost! But it will only arrive on June 24. And I wanted, as always - now or earlier.) One person offered for $ 1500, I haggled for $ 1300. That's what we agreed on. And I sent him an advance payment of 1000 UAH. I think I needed to wait a week or two.
However, I suspected that I would not receive it, since the Internet was buzzing that iPads in America were sold out and at the moment there was simply nowhere to buy them. Bad suspicions were confirmed. I did not receive the toy. They honestly returned my money with an apology, although, of course, there was no reason for it.
Everything is understandable, of course, but I still didn’t have the device I wanted. I went online again and found a seller of an iPad 32gb 3G for $1350. This is not 64gb as I wanted, this is 32gb. $1350 for 32G is expensive. In America, this option costs $730. $620 on top and the desired device is in my pocket. Representatives of the seller company activated it and I received a ready-to-use device.
So, I bought it.
There are plenty of words of admiration and worship of the genius of Steve Jobs and his electronic brainchild on the Internet. And they are deserved. There are also plenty of people who criticize Apple products. Accept the truth that is closer to you. I went to the Apple Store and downloaded free apps and games that I was interested in. About twenty out of a hundred were free. Then I decided to connect my iPad to the 3G network. The choice was not great. Either Utel or someone else.
For example, in Severodonetsk, I asked local sellers and found out that Utel does not work there. Or rather, Kyivstar works through roaming. At a price of 450 UAH per 1 gigabyte!!! Therefore, it turned out that I needed someone else. In Russia, MTS even offers micro SIM cards for installation on iPad. In short, it works in Russia. Previously, I used the services of MTS-Ukraine and this is a separate article with obscene words and phrases. I have never seen such disrespect for their customers as in MTS. But the article is not about that. I went to ours, Kiev MTS in Pasage. After 1 hour 40 minutes of waiting, the girl told me unequivocally that MTS works on iPad in Kyiv.
And they work everywhere in Ukraine, the world, and are already setting up stations on the Moon. If I buy this package for 60 UAH, insert the card into my precious device, then I will be happy. I want happiness, I bought the coveted package at a traffic cost of about 110 UAH per 1 gigabyte.). At home, using a stationery knife I bought in advance and a nail file as a ruler (so that it does not slip on the surface of the SIM card, I took it instead of the ruler itself) I cut the card.
I made a microSIM from a SIM card. Fortunately, I still have the skills of my old hobby of wood carving and, in particular, carving netsuke from boxwood. I inserted it. No, it does not work. I come to MTS. I have been waiting in line for an hour now. I go to the one who told me that it would work. I say, well, where? It does not work. This time this beauty started telling me that something needs to be set up. And this young man who is nearby, at the next table, can do it.
He is very smart, and she is just here, to talk. I wait another half an hour until that guy is free. I sit down at his table. And he tells me that no, MTS does not work with iPad in Ukraine. Here we go. Are you a cool company or a bazaar? So does it work or not? You will somehow decide. And he also looked at the papers and called somewhere. Definitely, it does not work. And what that girl said that it would work, he does not know at all. And they will restore the cut SIM card for me. They will definitely restore it in 15 minutes. No problem. But not now. They are not available for exchange now. Come in a week.)
I came. Another hour of waiting in line. Now a new girl, at another table, said that they do not restore these cards. (!) For some reason I was not even surprised.) In short, they gave me a card, a new one. I'll stick it in their modem and let it lie around until my next trip. I got the card, but the question remained and I was still full of desires to connect my iPad to 3G networks.
The horror story continues...
Sincerely, Eduard Stelmakh.
