Some places speak for themselves — but others ask for a little more vision. This shoot took place on board the Escape yacht, under a soft overcast sky and with a limited amount of available light. No golden hour. No studio setup. Just a few reflectors, a ladder, and a bit of movement.
It may look like a luxury editorial shoot at first glance. And in the end — that’s exactly what we wanted it to feel like. But what makes it work isn’t just the setting or the dress. It’s the direction, the pose, the detail in the fingers, the lift of the chin — and of course, everything that happens afterward in post-production.
Escape (before and after). A shot from a wedding photo session made on the luxury Escape yacht.
It is the primary shot which I used to create the main photo.
In the first photo you see the final result — cinematic lighting, softened shadows, extended textures, enhanced color harmony, and just enough polish to bring it into the world of glossy editorial. The second photo is the original RAW, untouched, straight out of camera. Same moment. Different universe.
As a photographer and retoucher, I’ve always believed that post-production isn’t about hiding flaws — it’s about bringing the image to where it was meant to be. The camera captures information. The retouch tells the story.
This shoot is one of many examples where location, lighting, and editing come together to create a mood that didn’t exist… until we made it.
