PHOTOGRAPHY IN OUR LIFE

Nowadays, we all can no longer imagine life without photography.

Just two centuries ago, it did not exist at all, and such important areas of our life as journalism and fine art lived without its participation. However, two hundred years in the history of culture is a very short period. And photography has not yet had time to take its stable place. Photography literally means "light painting". This clarifies the technical properties of the process. If we consider photography from the point of view of composition, then its basis is lines. Lines, along with tonality, convey the emotionality of the photograph and the dynamics of its plot, and, as they say, provoke the one who looks to feel.

The contours of objects are lines of force located in the photograph. As a rule, in black and white photographs they are expressed more strongly, because the gaze is not distracted by the difference in shades of the photo. This effect is often used in art photography. It is not for nothing that professional photographers like to create black and white photographs. And an experienced photographer, thanks to the line, can control the viewer's gaze, aiming his gaze at certain details and places in the photograph. Each type of line adds its own emotional coloring. As a rule, this manifests itself on a subconscious level, but you will see that the influence of lines is quite great.

A straight line shows activity and speed, however, if it is located horizontally, then it creates a certain impression of peace and tranquility. The most common example is the horizon line - it is difficult to think of something more static. Slightly curved lines convey relaxation and lethargy. This is how the banks of many bodies of water look. A sufficiently curved line makes the observer's gaze stop and gives the overall composition a certain effect of slowing down. The spiral expresses vitality and a share of tension.

Using diagonals makes it possible to create a photograph that is non-standard and attractive. The photograph, like every rectangle, has two of them: ascending and descending.

The ascending diagonal goes from the lower left corner to the upper right. The main composition on it is formed by positive emotions. The upward direction along the ascending diagonal becomes quite easy and sudden. In the version with the descending diagonal, everything is opposite. The upward direction represents tension, and the downward movement represents ease.

Professional photography differs from amateur home photography as the sky differs from the earth, but a professional photographer differs from a beginner not only in the quality of a digital camera. It is possible to perform miracles even with a point-and-shoot camera.
