PHOTO SHOOT: FLOWER BLANKET

The task was to take a pretty, girly photo. I'm not interested in the standard cuddly doll theme. Rather, it was the world around us that gave me the idea to realise this assignment.

The bright and warm summer in Germany reminded me that the world is full of flowers and bright colours. The young greenery is even more lush than in Thailand after the rainy season. The flowers are bursting with beauty and fragrance.

So we take a photo with flowers for Nastya. Since flowers cover the whole earth with their beauty, I will use this picture as a base. Let's make a blanket of flowers. :)

See how it was in the video backstage at the end of the article:

First we went to the client's dacha, spread out a bedspread and cut all the flowers there for our photo shoot.
Lots of flowers, lots and lots of flowers.

Originally I had planned a single-coloured quilt with only red flowers, but nature, as always, made adjustments. I also had white flowers available. So why not? Let's make a two-coloured quilt with flowers. :)

After the flowers, we went to the location.

We had a recreation centre on the banks of the Dnipro River at our disposal. For the whole day. You are free to choose the location for the shoot. The whole base is yours.

We started with the stadium and then went to see the pier.

Let's go to a private beach that's so wide you could shoot a film battle. And all we need is a piece of green grass measuring 3 x 3 metres.

There are many ‘turbine’ locations that I really love for photography. When the trees form a tube (turbine) for the view, it's very good for the eye's perception of the overall perspective of the photo. But next time. At the moment we are looking for better grass.

And here I will take another staged photo next time.
I'll hang a chandelier on the tree and put Nastya, Danya, the bear and other soft toys at the table and have a festive tea party. I think that will be fabulously beautiful too.

Green grass has to be ‘just right’. It took a long time to find the best option.

But all options failed because of the look on our wonderful model's face.
Nastia was bent by the sun. Opening her eyes was out of the question. So we looked for green grass and shade.

I found it. There, and Nastia has almost opened her eyes. Can you see how happy she is?

And where do you think we found this opportunity? Right, when you have a whole recreation centre at your disposal, you take photos in the car park. :)

We laid a rolled up towel so that the girl could lie still throughout the photo shoot without catching a cold on the bare floor. Another towel on top and flowers on top.

Everyone helped wherever they could.

And then it turned out that Nastya's head was falling down. The towel under her back is thick, her head is falling down. And I'm on the stepladder on the opposite side.

Laughed and placed the model first on an additional towel under her head and then on a pillow, including her shoulders.
The head was now tilted at the right angle to the camera.

The girls complete the flower quilt and the accessories. The bear is of course not in the picture. We will use it next time.

The photo shoot itself.

We did two staging variations.
The first variant with Nastya under a horizontal blanket and the second variant with a very girly, heart-shaped blanket with stars.

Watch the video backstage to see how it all went down.

A girl called Nastya and her magical dream

A girl called Nastya slept in the green grass under a delicate blanket of pink flowers. The blanket of petals lulled her to sleep and gave her sweet dreams. In her arms she held her favourite cuddly toys, which accompanied her like faithful friends on her journey through the world of dreams.

The warm summer breeze caressed her face and the sun's rays breaking through the leaves of the trees set her hair in golden highlights. Silence reigned around her, interrupted only by the singing of the birds and the buzzing of the bees.
In this magical dream, Nastya could become anything: a fearless princess, a brave traveller or a good sorceress. She could fly in a balloon, sail across the vast sea or play with funny animals.

Cuddly toys, faithful companions of her dreams, were always close by. A teddy bear with whom she shared her secrets, a fluffy bunny who comforted her and a funny clown who always made her laugh.

Nastya clutched her so tightly in her arms as if she was afraid of losing her. As if understanding her feelings, the toys responded to her with their silent love and support.

Nastya's sleep was calm and serene. At that moment she was truly happy, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the warmth of her favourite toys.

When she wakes up, the memories of her magical dream will warm her soul for a long time to come and give her inspiration and strength for new games and adventures.
