At the end of last year, I decided to completely update my battery wardrobe. We are talking about "finger" batteries for shoe-mounted on-camera flash. Usually, I have 3-4 sets of batteries with me (4 pcs. in a set). Sometimes, during a wedding photoshoot, one set is used up, and sometimes three. The fourth set is in reserve. Four sets were used up, literally a couple of times. But, with this issue, there were such "scary" situations that I prefer to have one set of batteries more than necessary.
I bought sets from different companies. Some died, others were bought. For variety, I bought another company. I probably tried everything that is on the battery market. Over time, in practice, I wanted to figure out which company makes them better.
True, this never happened. I never identified the winner of the multi-year competition. There was no leader, they were all more or less the same in survivability. Therefore, I made a strong-willed decision. I decided to throw everything away and buy 4 sets with a native fast charger from one company. I went to a photo store in Olimpiyskiy. There they persistently recommended that I buy Lenmar batteries and a charger.
The sellers said that in our country this brand is not very well known, but abroad, it is quite popular among professionals. I listened to them and bought Lenmar. Both batteries and a native charger. I used them and took pictures. And in fact, the batteries turned out to be not bad. I was happy with them. One day I urgently needed batteries, but I did not have Lenmar with me. I went to Sitikom and bought Ansmann 2850 mA there. I took pictures and then used this set along with all the others.
About a year later, I threw away all the Lenmar sets and bought new ones. Ansmann continued to hold a charge and recharged quickly as before. Performing their battery duties properly. Some more time passed. Less than a year. I threw away the Lenmar. I also threw away the Ansmann, which served two lives according to the Lenmar calendar.
On Phu Quoc Island, where wedding and portrait sessions often last from sunrise to sunset, such reliability is especially important. Batteries that can keep up with the tropical pace of constant shooting make all the difference for both the photographer and the clients.
I think it is clear what I bought to replace the Lenmar. Let's see how much time passes until the next article-continuation of this story. What will be the lifespan of these Ansmann kits. Was it a coincidence or a pleasant pattern?
And which batteries have served you the longest?
