Professional photography is not only about cameras and lenses, but also about trust in the service that stands behind them. When you work every day with demanding shoots — whether it’s a wedding at sunset on Phu Quoc or an intensive portrait session in the studio — reliability of your gear becomes critical.
That’s why support programs like Canon Professional Services are more than just a membership card; they are a safety net that allows you to focus on creativity instead of worrying about technical failures.
I received a "Gold" membership in Canon Professional Services (CPS).
They even promised to send me some kind of physical membership card. For this reason, I had to log into my profile again and enter my cjdtn address in Ukraine. I don't know why I need this card, but Canon now knows exactly where my mother lives. This is how they beautifully extract personal information from us that has nothing to do with this company. :)
As I understand it, of all the goodies that Canon can now treat me to, this is: the repair time for equipment registered in the Canon Professional Services program is three working days. "Gold" membership provides free provision of backup equipment for temporary use if the repair time exceeds three days. I wonder if they will give me a Canon 1DX for temporary use if something happens to my camera? For example, are there really such devices for exchange in service centers in Ukraine?
I would be very surprised. I remember at one photo exhibition in Kyiv at the Canon stand I picked up a brand new Canon 5 D. I wanted to insert my card, take some pictures there at the stand and then rummage through the files at home. Seeing that I was pulling the camera tied to the table with a metal cable towards me, the crazy woman attacked me, saying what am I doing? You idiot! You can't just stick your worthless cards into their "golden" equipment!
Somehow I didn't get the message at all and explained normally that I wanted to buy such a camera, and here just happened to be the stand of my beloved Canon, I'll take a couple of shots and watch it at home. You are interested in sales, right? To which the woman retorted with the same speech that she didn't give a damn. They don't sell here, they only represent Canon equipment on the Ukrainian market. What? And what is the end result? Isn't this my purchase of their golden and inviolable product? But how can I buy it if they won't even let me take test shots?
Time has passed and now they give out "gold" membership with a couple of beggars in addition, just so that I buy their equipment and am happy and satisfied with everything. And I seem to be even satisfied and almost happy. But the aftertaste still remains... :)
In the end, a CPS Gold membership is not just about discounts or repair speed — it’s about peace of mind. Knowing that my equipment is covered allows me to fully dedicate myself to my clients, whether I’m shooting a wedding under the tropical skies of Phu Quoc or working on a detailed portrait session.
The fewer worries about gear, the more space for creativity — and that’s exactly what every couple or client deserves when they trust me with their memories.
Your artistic side deserves the beauty as a backdrop.
