Family Photoshoot on the Long Beach in Phu Quoc.

An incredibly heartwarming and touching photoshoot for a wonderful family from Germany.

We chose the grounds and beach of the hotel on Long Beach where they were staying as the location for the shoot.

Choosing the right location is an important component of the final photographic result. Luckily for us, most beach resorts and hotels in Phu Quoc are incredibly beautiful, and in most cases, you can get absolutely stunning shots right outside your room, especially when it comes to family photos.

You'll have plenty of exotic tropical greenery, manicured gardens and interiors, large boulders that can spark your creativity and add a touch of flair to your composition, and, of course, a beautiful beach.

Various backdrops, sophistication and elegance, a professional photographer... all you need to do is bring a good mood and enjoy the shoot!

That's my formula for stunning photos.

Enjoy!

I will tell you about the location and attach some photos from this wonderful family photo shoot on Long Beach as an example.

Long Beach first impressions

Long Beach in Phu Quoc is one of those places where, after just a couple of hours, you feel like you belong. There is no pretension, just a long stretch of soft sand, calm sea and such a relaxed pace of life that your phone automatically goes into aeroplane mode.

Officially, this beach is called Bai Truong. It is located in the commune of Duong To, which is part of the city of Phu Quoc, Kien Giang province. In fact, it is the west coast of the island, closer to the south. On one side is the sea, and on the other is the coastal street Tran Hung Dao, along which all tourist life is concentrated.

It is easy to get here. It is only about ten minutes by car from Phu Quoc International Airport. The Duong Dong area, the so-called ‘centre’ of the island, is also within easy reach. Therefore, Long Beach is usually the first place tourists visit after landing.

The longest beach on the island

The beach got its English name, Long Beach, for a reason. The coastline stretches for more than 20 kilometres. If you look at a map, it is a long arc of sand along the west coast.

Long Beach is conventionally divided into two parts. The northern part, closer to Dinh Cau Port and the old districts of Phu Quoc, is shorter and more populated. The southern part is longer, more spacious and is actively being built up with modern resorts and residential complexes.

The sand here is light and soft, and the entrance to the water is gentle. The width of the beach varies depending on the area and the tides, but in most places there is room for sun loungers, walks and a quiet corner with a book. Along the edge are rows of casuarina and coconut palms that provide natural shade.

The main advantage of Long Beach is that it is long. Even if the hotel has its own lively area, you only need to walk a little to the side, and there are noticeably fewer people. This is not a small bay where everyone is in plain sight, but a whole beach world where everyone can find their place.

Life along Tran Hung Dao Street

Long Beach is not just a strip of sand. Running parallel to it is Trần Hưng Ðạo Street, which has essentially become the island's first major tourist thoroughfare. It's easy to spend your entire holiday here without ever going far. Cafés and restaurants, Vietnamese street food and European menus, massage parlours, small shops, bars, tour offices, bike and tour rentals - all within walking distance of the beach.

Just south of the main ‘old’ part of Long Beach, modern complexes are appearing. One of the most notable is the Sonasea area. There is a pedestrian street with restaurants, street food, shops, and evening shows. This is a more ‘Instagrammable’ and organised format - lighting, music, family walks in the evening.

The town of Phu Quoc Marina is a separate story. It is a large resort and entertainment area with squares, clubs, bars, and high-end hotels. All this is part of the official coastal development plan. Long Beach is established as the island's key tourist area and will continue to be developed in the coming years.

Hotels and resorts on Long Beach

This beach is convenient because it offers hotels to suit every taste and budget. The southern part of the beach is home to major brands, which are often referred to in official documents and tourist materials as Phu Quoc's flagship resorts: Novotel Phu Quoc Resort, InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort, Pullman Phu Quoc Beach Resort, Mường Thanh Luxury Phu Quoc, and Best Western Premier Sonasea Phu Quoc. In addition, Regent Phu Quoc and other premium resorts have appeared in the Phu Quoc Marina area.

What does this mean for tourists? If you want the ‘picture’ from the catalogues, more service and infrastructure ‘all in one place’, then the southern part of Long Beach with its large resorts will be very convenient. There are swimming pools, restaurants, bars, spas, childrebn's rooms and conference rooms. Step out of your room, walk a couple of minutes along the path and you're already on the sand.

Closer to the older parts of the beach, there are simpler hotels, as well as resorts that are ‘classic’ for Phu Quoc, such as Long Beach Resort Phu Quoc. Here, there is more of the atmosphere of the island's early tourist years, when everything was a little less polished and more intimate. Another plus for Long Beach is the many small hotels and guesthouses just inland from the sea, along the same Trần Hưng Ðạo. This is an option for those who want to save money but still be within a two- or three-minute walk of the beach.

Things to do in Long Beach

The most obvious thing to do is simply nothing. Lie down, swim, walk along the sea, return to your sun lounger, drink coconut water, and go back to the water. But if you want to be active, there are plenty of options. The sea here is usually calm, with no sudden depths, so the beach is suitable for those who are unsure swimmers and for families with children. You can take a kayak or SUP, play beach volleyball, go boating, book a snorkelling or diving tour to the reefs. Or book a photo shoot on the beach )

It is a special pleasure to simply walk along the shore. Along the long stretch of beach, there are different ‘micro-worlds’: some areas have modern hotels, some are almost deserted, and there are small cafes right on the sand, massage pavilions and local fish restaurants. If you want more ‘photogenic’ places, tourists often head towards Sunset Sanato Beach Club. There are famous sculptures in the sea, arches and art objects that are constantly popping up on social media. In the evening, you can visit beach bars like OCSEN, where people gather at sunset with a cocktail or coconut in their hands.

By the way, sunsets are one of Long Beach's calling cards. The beach faces west, so the sun sets directly into the sea. When the weather is good, you don't need any filters: the sky does everything for you.

When is the best time to visit?

Phu Quoc has a tropical climate. There are usually two main seasons.

The dry season lasts from late autumn to spring. During this time, the weather is more stable, with little rain, calm and clear seas, and many sunny days. For most tourists, this is the ideal time to plan a beach holiday, excursions, and trips around the island.

The rainy season comes closer to summer and lasts until autumn. It does rain, but more often in the form of short, heavy showers, after which the sun comes out again. At this time, there are fewer people, the heat is milder, and prices are often more reasonable. However, the sea can be a little more wavy, and the sky can be overcast.

If you want a ‘picture-perfect’ view and a beach holiday without any surprises, choose the dry season. If peace, quiet and more relaxed prices are more important to you, the rainy season is also an option, but you should be prepared for changeable weather.
