Night Markets and Walking Streets of Phu Quoc

Where to Go for an Evening Walk

During the day, Phu Quoc often seems lazy and calm. The sea roars, the sun beats down, and it seems that there is nothing here but the beach. But then evening comes. Signs light up, fairy lights are switched on, music fills the streets, and the smell of barbecue wafts through the air. Suddenly, it becomes clear that the island has a second personality.

Phu Quoc's nightlife is not usually associated with clubbing. It is more characterised by walks. There are many places where you can wander aimlessly, stop for a cocktail, try street food, buy a souvenir, get a massage, visit a karaoke bar or play a game of billiards. Tourists usually call these areas walking streets, although they can be streets, promenades or entire neighbourhoods.

How to choose a place to spend the evening in Phu Quoc

There is no one main Wolkin Street on the island that suits everyone. Phu Quoc is elongated, and travelling between places can easily take up half the evening. Therefore, it is more convenient to start from where you live.

If you are in the north, Grand World will almost certainly suit you. There is a lot of light, music, a canal, and overall, it feels like you've entered a separate entertainment city.

The centre of the island revolves around Duong Dong and its night market. This is the most straightforward and ‘classic’ option when you want to eat, walk around, and see the island in the evening without any complicated plans.

On Long Beach, however, tourists often choose evening spots "close by" because it is a very long resort strip. You may be staying far from each other, even though formally everyone says "Long Beach". As a result, it is easier not to go to the centre for just one dinner, but to choose the nearest evening spot. Usually, this is Sonasea or Phu Quoc Marina, and sometimes just a walk along Trần Hưng Đạo, where there are many cafes, bars, and places where you can sit quietly after the sea.

The south of the island is often chosen by those who want a beautiful evening walk. It is easier to put together a "ready-made" scenario there. You arrive closer to sunset, walk around the city among beautiful architecture, choose a restaurant with a sea view, and then move on to the evening area with food and music. That's why Sunset Town and VUI-Fest Bazaar come up so often in recommendations.

Below, I will describe these places in more detail, starting from the upper part of the island and moving downwards (from north to south). For your convenience, I will highlight the key names in bold so that you can easily find the place you are looking for on the map. So,

Grand World - streets around the canal with gondolas.

In the evening, Grand World feels like you've entered a separate city within the island. Everything here is designed for walking. There are lots of lights and people, but it's not annoying. On the contrary, it feels like a holiday.

The most recognisable part of Grand World is the Venetian-style canal in Phu Quoc, often referred to as the Venice Canal or Venice River. Gondola-style boats sail along the canal. There are walking paths and bridges along the water, and nearby there are cafés and restaurants where you can enjoy dinner or a cocktail.

If you enjoy evening street food, Grand World also has a night market. It is located on Indochine Street and is usually most active in the evening. The format is simple and straightforward. A little food, a few souvenirs, some music. It is convenient if you arrive in the evening to stroll through the most beautiful part of the complex and want to grab a bite to eat on the way, without a long dinner.

Ong Lang - an evening street with massage salons and cafes.

This is a quiet area, popular with those looking for peace and quiet. There is no sense that "everyone has come here". Instead, there is a feeling that you are in your own neighbourhood. People go out for dinner, get a massage, choose a small cafe where they feel comfortable. Activity is usually concentrated along the main road and near the intersection, which many use as a landmark. You walk around, and it's a quiet resort evening without unnecessary noise.

Dương Đông - the main night market and evening entertainment on the central streets. Phu Quoc Night Market (Duong Dong Night Market)

In Duong Dong, there is a market that is most often searched for on Google as Phu Quoc Night Market. It does not look perfectly neat. And that is its charm.

The market is usually described as an area that stretches across several neighbouring streets in the centre. Take a stroll through the crowd, stopping to try some exotic street food or drink a fruit cocktail.

It starts operating around 6 p.m. By 8 p.m., it's already packed with people. Later, it gets even more crowded, but the atmosphere is livelier. It's easy to grab dinner on the go at the market. Pick up some seafood, then a fruit shake, then something else strange and delicious. And just like that, you've got yourself an evening. Many people buy souvenirs or fruit baskets here before flying back home.

Duong Dong Night Market is easy to get to. It is located near the Vinbus (green bus) No. 17 and No. 19 stop. The bus stop is called "Night Market".

In addition to the night market in Duong Dong, you can stroll through the centre, visit a restaurant, karaoke bar or play billiards.

Here, you can also just stroll along the central streets of the city. You will always find a place where loud music is playing from a bar. There is also karaoke on every street, sometimes even several. And somewhere there are billiard tables and a noisy crowd playing as if the world championship were at stake.

There are many restaurants with different cuisines in the centre, so you can try different options during your holiday. And if you're in a playful mood, karaoke is almost always nearby. As are massage parlours, where many people go after a walk.

Long Beach - evening markets and places that are great for spending the evening.

Long Beach is convenient because many people live here. And in the evening, you don't want to travel far. The good news is that you can have a great evening in this area without complicated logistics. Just choose a place closer to your hotel and go for a walk.

Sonasea Night Market (Dương Tơ)

Sonasea Night Market is usually popular with those who want a quiet evening without travelling far. It is not a huge bazaar, but a compact walking area, which is convenient to visit after the beach.

You arrive, take a stroll, choose food based on its aroma and your mood, grab a drink, and simply walk among the lights and music. Everything here is simple and tourist-friendly, which is why Sonasea is often chosen as a place to grab a quick bite and enjoy an hour or two, especially if you live nearby on Long Beach.

Phu Quoc Marina - evening street food market and beach club

Phu Quoc Marina feels different. It is no longer a ‘roadside market’ but a resort cluster by the sea, where in the evening you want to take your time and change your plans as you go. It usually starts with a walk along the Waterfront. On the way, it's easy to pop into the Phu Quoc Marina Night Market, which is more like a small evening food market. It is not as noisy and crowded as in the centre of Duong Dong, but it is a pleasant place to have a light dinner. We picked up a couple of dishes, tried something new, sat down and went for another walk.

If you want to continue, Marina is good because there are places nearby for hanging out. Many people go to Sailing Club Phu Quoc when they want music, cocktails and a livelier atmosphere after sunset. This is a case where you can start the evening with street food and end it with dancing or just a long conversation at the bar, looking at the sea.

If you prefer a more relaxed atmosphere, INK 360 Rooftop Bar is a popular choice in the same area. This place is loved for its beautiful sunset views. It is located on the roof of the InterContinental Hotel and offers truly stunning panoramas and a ‘resort evening’ feeling without the hustle and bustle. It's a great place to go after a hot day when you want to relax.

Bai Truong Night Market and Trần Hưng Đạo in the evening

Another thing that is useful to know if you live in Long Beach. Some recommendations specifically mention Bai Truong Night Market on Trần Hưng Đạo. For tourists, this serves as a simple landmark. If you need the closest evening market option, it is worth checking what is located in your part of Trần Hưng Đạo, because the street is long.

Trần Hưng Đạo itself often turns into a "resort promenade" in the evening. You walk along cafes and restaurants, music is playing somewhere, people are sitting on terraces somewhere, and somewhere you just want to stop for dessert or a cocktail. This is a good option when you don't want a specific place, but just want to go out and see where you like it.

Where to go in the evening in Phu Quoc if you want a beach atmosphere rather than a market.

Sometimes in the evening, you don't feel like going to the market at all. You want the sea, the wind and a cocktail in your hands. Then, on Long Beach, people usually choose places with a beach vibe.

OCSEN is often referred to as a beach bar, where people come for the sunset, music and "evening by the water" atmosphere.

Sunset Sanato is chosen by those who value the scenery. There are many photogenic art objects there, and the sunset looks particularly impressive. These are good options if you want more excitement and views, and dinner can be the second priority, not the first.

Sunset Town - VUI-Fest Bazaar and a walk by the sea

The south of the island looks like a postcard in the evening. Sunset Town was specially built to make you want to walk around it. The architecture here is deliberately European. Some people think it looks too much like a "set". Others, on the contrary, genuinely enjoy the atmosphere. It's great just to walk around the city here.

VUI-Fest Bazaar is one of the main evening attractions in Sunset Town. It is a promenade by the sea with lots of food, drinks and places to just walk around. It is a pedestrian street and it is safe to walk there with children, which is of course a huge plus for Vietnam. VUI-Fest Bazaar ends with the Vietnam Select supermarket, where you can buy souvenirs or other items. Nearby, there is a great viewpoint overlooking the sea. Once construction on the opposite shore is complete, it will be a simply magnificent viewpoint.

If you are looking for a romantic evening, the south often wins. It is easier to plan a route here, where everything is beautiful in itself. You don't have to search long for "the right atmosphere". It is usually already there.

Khem Beach - beach bars and dinner by the sea.

Khem Beach is ideal for those who want to spend the evening by the water without feeling like they are in a noisy city. It is easy to plan a simple and very pleasant evening here. Arrive closer to sunset, take a short walk on the sand, listen to the sea and then choose a place where you want to linger. Dinner on the shore, cocktails, a warm breeze and no rush.

A separate advantage of Kem Beach is that there is a "bar street" with establishments next to the public part of the beach. This area has a noticeable entrance with a large TRÍCH BAZAAR sign.

This location is especially popular with those who want to celebrate something "resort-style". A birthday, a meeting with friends, a dinner for two, or just a pleasant evening after a good day at the beach. It's convenient to start with a walk by the water, then choose one of the establishments in Trích Bazaar (wherever you feel more comfortable, quieter or conversely more fun) and stay there for the whole evening.

What to do in Phu Quoc after 7pm?

The simplest answer is this: go to the night market or walking street near your area, then continue the evening at a bar or restaurant. In Duong Dong, this is easy to do right in the centre or Duong Dong Night Market . On Long Beach, it's convenient to combine Sonasea or Marina with cocktails by the sea. And in the south, Sunset Town and VUI-Fest Bazaar offer excellent options.
