HOW LONG HAS WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY BEEN AROUND?

How long has wedding photography existed?

Today, a wedding without professional photography is hard to imagine. Neither the most modest nor the most elegant wedding celebrations can do without a photographer. Even couples with very limited financial resources spare no expense for the services of a professional photographer.

And that's only because everyone wants beautiful wedding photos to remind them of the most important and celebratory event of their lives. But it wasn't always this way. You might not believe it, but Photoshop wasn't always this way. There was a time when photography didn't even exist, including wedding photography. So how did photography come about? And when were the first wedding photos taken?

The history of wedding photography.

Officially, the first photograph was taken in 1826 by Nicephorus Niepce. Although a Russian amateur chemist, Alexey Petrovich Bestuzhev-Rjumin, made a discovery in 1725 that played a role in the "birth" of photography, only Nieps was able to capture the first fixed light pattern. His result is considered the first photograph. The first wedding photographs appeared 14 years later, in 1840. They were photos of the wedding of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.

At that time, the development of photography was a complex technical process. To create a single black-and-white image in copper, glass, or tin, subjects had to stand still for more than a minute. Even their heads were fixed with special devices. This meant there was no "wobbling." The process only changed with the invention of photographic paper. This happened in 1887, thanks to the developments of Mr. Green.

By the 1840s, photography was already considered a kind of art, which in fact led to the idea of posed photos at weddings. Incidentally, the surviving wedding photos from this period were not taken during the ceremony, but mostly afterward. I sometimes do that, too. Due to the complexity of the technology and the cumbersome equipment, the photos were shot exclusively in studios. The newlyweds dressed in beautiful (not necessarily wedding) dresses and went to the photo studio. It wasn't until the late 1960s that couples began to have their wedding photos taken directly at the ceremony in their wedding attire.

In the 20th century, color photography emerged, making wedding photos more vibrant. Although the colors in photos faded quickly at that time, technological advances quickly remedied this. Soon after, compact flashes, new color films, and new development methods appeared. Digital photography and modern graphic editing programs have shed new light on the subject. The wave of digital accessibility has brought about a further evolution in the brightness of photography. It is young photographers who have discovered the "saturation" engine in Photoshop. )

Until 1970, it wasn't possible to capture the entire event: the limited amount of film and the heavy and cumbersome equipment limited wedding photography to one or two classic subjects. It wasn't until the early 1980s that wedding photography began to become more familiar.

With the advent of digital cameras, the photography industry has changed dramatically. Today, photo studios offer a variety of wedding photography options, from static portraits to creating stunning 3D collages. Whichever option you choose, your wedding photos will cherish the memories of these special moments.

Most importantly, turn to the professionals.
