Sunset Town is a dreamy spot for your photoshoot in Phu Quoc
When I first arrived in Sunset Town on Phu Quoc Island, I immediately felt like I had stepped into the set of a European film. But over time, I realized that this was not just a beautifully designed tourist destination, but a real find for photographers.
The town seems to have been created for filming. Narrow streets surrounded by greenery, bright buildings with every detail thought out to the smallest detail — all this turns a walk into a living photo book. It's easy to catch the light here — soft and diffused, especially in the morning and before sunset, when the colors become especially warm and rich.
One of my favorite places is the area with colorful facades and rounded towers. These buildings, painted in soft transitions from turquoise to orange, are perfect for romantic or family photoshoots.
Nearby, there is a marble fountain with white sculptures, palm trees, and smooth tiles — everything you need for exquisite shots without unnecessary staging.
The city center has a cozy European holiday atmosphere.
Street cafes with garlands, beer bars with painted barrels, street musicians, and the aroma of grilled meat—all this is not only pleasing to the eye but also creates a lively backdrop that perfectly complements reportage photo shoots. Many of my clients admit afterwards that they didn't even need to pose — the shots turned out natural on their own.
Add to this the signature red retro electric cars that you can ride around town in—they're not only fun, but they also look great in photos. And the clock tower, towering above the streets, has become a real landmark of Sunset Town. I often use it as a reference point and as the main element of the composition for shooting against the backdrop of the city panorama.
Every time I find myself here with my camera, I want to shoot endlessly. Sunset Town is a city of mood, light, and color. And most importantly, everyone will find their own corner here where they will want to be remembered in a photo.
Architecture as part of the Sunset Town atmosphere
As a photographer, I realized long ago that surroundings are not just a backdrop in a photo, but a tool that creates the mood of the shot. That's why I love shooting in Sunset Town so much. Here, literally every turn reveals a new scene in which you are the director and your clients are the main characters.
The city center features architectural compositions inspired by European classics, such as an antique fountain with figures that seem to have come straight from Roman squares. These elements look incredibly cinematic in a shot, especially in the morning or soft evening light. And if you add a little contrast to the frame — say, a parked scooter — you get not just a photo, but a story in which eras and cultures meet.
Further on, there are pastel-colored house facades, ornate staircases hidden in greenery, and cozy balconies with shutters. Your eye is drawn to the details: carved railings, wrought-iron lanterns, and the texture of the walls, as if weathered by time.
All of this works perfectly in the frame, creating layers, depth, and atmosphere. Romantic and family photo shoots turn out especially well here — the pictures look warm and soulful, like something out of a movie.
And, of course, I cannot fail to mention the area designed to look like ancient ruins. High walls with arches, powerful sculptures of warriors, massive columns, and brickwork give the space a theatrical feel. It is an excellent location for spectacular portraits, especially if you want something unusual and expressive. By the way, such shoots are often chosen by couples who like images with “character.”
Sunset Town is somewhat reminiscent of a huge open-air art installation. It's easy to play with angles, light, and movement here. Even the simplest pose or gesture takes on a different meaning when surrounded by architecture that tells a story in itself.
Architecture, light, and the sea, the perfect backdrop for photo shoots
This area of Phu Quoc combines nature and modern architecture so skillfully that you'll want to take out your camera at every turn. Here, you can capture several different atmospheres in a single shoot—from urbanism to tropical seclusion.
One part of the location is decorated in a natural style — a cascading waterfall among palm trees and terraces with stonework. It looks like a corner of the jungle transported into the urban landscape. It is these details that allow you to create not just portraits, but full-fledged visual stories. The gentle flow of water, natural shapes, and greenery all contribute to a relaxed, organic atmosphere in the photo.
This is the famous Sunset Town brewery.
A little further away is a striking building with a purple-pink glass facade. It literally shimmers as the light changes and alters the mood of the photo depending on the time of day.
I love to shoot here closer to sunset — that's when the colors become especially deep and reflect the warm sky. The architecture is modern, bold, and perfect for creative, fashionable, individual photo shoots.
The brewery building looks like a precious stone in the rays of the setting sun. Like a ruby.
The contrast between this glass facade and the surrounding light stone buildings creates an interesting visual rhythm. This part of the resort is perfect for shooting geometry, light reflections, and the play of lines. Even a walk here looks like a scene from an architecture magazine.
And, of course, we cannot fail to mention the coast. The view of the beach, palm trees, and sea from above opens up a stunning panorama — a backdrop that always works. It adds air, space, and a feeling of vacation. Such shots work great for couples, families, or individual “vacation-style” photo shoots.
In general, this part of the island is the perfect mix of tropical nature and a European approach to aesthetics. It's easy to catch natural light here, find unusual angles, and compose shots without staging. Everything has already been done by nature and architects — my job is just to capture it correctly.
A symbol, heart, and backdrop for the best shots
If I were asked to name the most recognizable place in this city, without hesitation, I would point to the clock tower. It is not just an architectural element—it is a true symbol of this part of the island. It can be seen from almost anywhere, and it always sets the mood for a photo shoot.
The tower is called the Sun Signature Clock Tower. It stands about 75 meters tall and is built in a classic European style. It has something of an Italian town hall and a touch of Parisian elegance. It looks especially impressive at dawn or closer to sunset, when the soft light emphasizes the warm brick color of the walls and light finishes.
This tower is not just a backdrop. It is a powerful accent in the frame, especially in portrait and couple shots. With it, photos immediately gain depth, structure, and mood.
I often compose the frame with it as a compositional support — it sets the balance and helps to build perspective.
Not far from the tower is another of my favorite places—a snow-white marble fountain decorated with sculptures of mythological creatures. In the center is Neptune with his trident, surrounded by mermaids, dolphins, and sea horses. All of this is done in great detail, with bas-reliefs and decorative carvings. This fountain is called the Mythical Creatures Fountain, and it really looks like it came straight out of the pages of an ancient Greek epic.
Both individual portraits and paired shots look great against the backdrop of the fountain. The white stone reflects the light beautifully, especially during the golden hour, and the architectural scale gives a sense of monumentality and style. It's easy to take a picture here that will look like a shot from a glossy magazine.
Perhaps it is in this part of the district that you can feel its “heart” — the aesthetics, rhythm, and atmosphere that make you want to not just walk, but stop, observe, and capture every little detail in a photo. These places have long been my points of attraction when I photograph tourists, couples, or families who have come to the island to relax and take home not just photos, but emotions.
The Bridge of Kisses and the best view of the sunset
One of the reasons why I love shooting in this part of Fukuoka so much is the feeling that the city literally extends into the sea. The upper terraces and balconies offer panoramic views of the beach, palm trees, neat houses with tiled roofs, and the smooth horizon. It's very easy to feel like you're on vacation here, even if you've only flown in for a couple of days. For a photographer, this combination of urban aesthetics and seascape is a gift.
A special place in this landscape is occupied by Kiss Bridge, or Cầu Hôn — the famous Bridge of Kisses.
It is a pedestrian structure consisting of two graceful arches that stretch towards each other over the water and almost touch in the center, leaving a small gap between them. According to the designers, the bridge symbolizes the meeting of two people who are drawn to each other despite the distance.
Today, it is one of the most recognizable symbols of the resort and a magnet for couples in love.
I often bring clients here at sunset. When the sun sinks toward the horizon, the silhouette of the bridge, palm trees, and soft light create the perfect conditions for romantic shots. This location is ideal for marriage proposals, lighthearted love stories, and mini wedding shoots while traveling. No complicated decorations are needed—the architecture and nature have already done all the work.
Nearby is a pier with a modern pavilion where yachts and boats dock. It adds a slight touch of “luxury vacation” to the shot: yachts against the backdrop of turquoise water, the smooth lines of the pier, and the bridge in the distance. The combination of warm house facades, tropical greenery, and futuristic shapes above the water makes for a very interesting picture for those who want their photos to stand out from typical beach shots.
Even a simple walk along the embankment here turns into a small event. Signs with inscriptions like The Sky, The Hill, and The Sea only emphasize the atmosphere — as if each step chooses a new direction for the story. For me, as a photographer, this is the perfect location: in one place, there is the city, the sea, and an architectural symbol in the form of the Bridge of Kisses, which makes the story in the photos complete and memorable.
Вечерний Sunset Town
When the sun begins to slide toward the horizon, this cozy coastal town changes its mood. During the day, it is bright and cheerful, but in the evening, a special atmosphere appears here—warm, soft, almost intimate. It is at this time that I most often take my camera and go out to shoot. There is a certain magic in this place: the light turns golden, the air becomes transparent, and every detail seems to be created to be captured in a frame.
Walking through the narrow streets, I notice how the lights come on in the palm trees, turning them into living light sculptures. The stairs leading down to the sea are lit so neatly and delicately that I want to walk more slowly, breathe in the scent of flowers, and simply enjoy the moment. Sometimes it seems as if the city itself is telling me where to stop to take a beautiful picture.
I especially like looking into courtyards and archways. In the evening, a whole different world opens up here: quiet corners decorated with flowers and light that softly falls on ancient stone passageways. Flower carts, hanging flags, small lanterns—all this creates the atmosphere of a never-ending holiday. Even random passersby look like they're part of a beautiful movie story.
When dusk falls, the city comes alive in its own way. Street fair lights appear, retro trams and small electric cars start running on the streets, taking tourists on evening rides. Their shiny bodies reflect the lights, and it seems as if they have come from another era. For photography, this is a treasure trove — the dynamics, the light, the emotions of people who smile, enjoy the atmosphere, and imperceptibly become the heroes of the frame.
Another spot I love to photograph in the evening is the European-style houses on the hillside by the water. When the sky is painted in soft shades of pink and peach, their steep roofs and stone walls glow with a soft light. Against the backdrop of the sun setting over the sea, this location looks incredibly romantic. It's perfect for warm family, romantic, and individual photos.
Evening in this place is the perfect time to capture the mood of rest, relaxation, and light fairy-tale magic. The light is soft, the colors are deep, the emotions are natural — everything that makes photos lively and atmospheric. Here, every sunset turns into a little journey, and I am always happy to capture it with you.
